Over the last five years we have spent thousands of rounds of ammunition testing rifles to create designs that didn't just optimize the recoil but they also "shoot flat" and cut the blast substantially on the shooter. Our brakes optimize the shootability more than just the recoil reduction. Recoil, muzzle rise, felt concussion on the shooter, blast on those around the shooter, ease of installation, safety in the event of brake coming loose: all of these factor into the muzzle device design and overall user experience.
The big jump in performance came in 2019 with the Jet4 muzzle brake which utilizes progressive ports. Each pair of ports along the length of the brake is at a different angle in order to best optimize the work we can do with the expanding propellant gasses as they leave the muzzle. This brake has been hugely successful, cutting recoil and muzzle rise on common competition rifles by 60% in some cases all while reducing the blast not only on the shooter but on the folks around them.
The new Avenger brake is a combination of the technology that we pioneered to the market with the Jet4 shapes as well as a need that we saw in the market for the increase in exceptionally heavy barrel contours amongst the precision rifle competition community and the companies making sleeved barrels. This is a 1-1/4" diameter brake, self timing, progressive port design that cuts recoil and muzzle rise for even the biggest magnum cartridges like the 338 Lapua, 338 Norma, 300 Norma, 300 PRC and others. Imagine if you will, taking a 17lb super magnum like a 300 Norma and being able to spot your trace and impacts on a PRS Skills Stage barricade. This brake allows you to do that much more easily.
For the shooters using these to compete in Hunter Class matches with an upper weight limit of 16.0 lbs we have great news! All of this performance comes in the same weight as our popular Shockwave muzzle brake, just 8 oz!

This is one beast of a brake, a Jet4 on steroids. The port design and size redirect blast perfectly around the shooters position and do an amazing job of reducing recoil while keeping felt blast pressure minimized. If you have a large contour barrel this will fit nicely with the contour, I highly recommend this brake for the PROOF Competition contour and straight taper and bull barrel contours.
