The Patriot Valley Arms "Rocket Scientist" brake is the next step in precision rifle muzzle brakes. It is designed for larger magnum calibers burning at least 45 grains of powder and it excels with calibers burning 70 grains or more. The ports are optimized for precision rifles such as the massive 300 Norma Magnum and 338 Lapua Magnum to reduce recoil, aid in precision and shootability, ease of install. All without directing muzzle blast back onto the shooter, optics and neighboring folks on the line.
See what we mean in this video showing a 300 Win Mag during a match. The shooter is using the first production-intent prototype Rocket Scientist on his 300 Win Mag. The stage consists of 3 plates that must be shot twice each in sequence, fastest time to hit all the plates wins. Distances are approximately 600 yards.
The Rocket Scientist uses a threaded collar in order to index the muzzle brake without additional machining work required on each barrel. It is also not 1-time use like other machine-timed brakes but rather can be used barrel after barrel after barrel, saving shooters significant costs with each subsequent barrel that they purchase.
All of the Rocket Scientists come with Black Nitride treatment to increase surface hardness and impart the black finish on the surface. The Rocket Scientist currently comes in several offerings for caliber size and thread pattern.
- 3/4-24 with 30 caliber aperture
- 3/4-24 with 33 caliber aperture
(For the same application in a 5/8"-24 thread pattern check out our Shockwave Brake) here: https://patriotvalleyarms.com/shockwave-muzzle-brake/

I estimate a 1/3 recoil reduction. Nice it can easily be installed/removed without tools with no significant POI shift.
