PVA ARCA to PIC plate, short version.
The plate is designed for a light, robust, easy option that allows a mounted scope (already in rings or mount) to be clipped to this plate and then to a ball head. Mounting is super simple.
Using a rifle scope as a spotter has major utility for match weekends where you really don't need 60x, overload from mirage and a mediocre reticle. It is also highly useful for light hunting applications. This plate weighs a couple ounces, and my spare rifle scope assembled with the plate weighs 2 pounds less than the spotting scope. Plus, if I need to I can swap the spare scope onto the rifle, which cannot be done with a spotter.
A Thermal mounts directly to it, and makes a great detection tool. With an IR illuminator mounted to the thermal we have a solution that allows a spotter to act as the detection and illumination with a steady hand. The guy on NV doesn't need to be "talked onto" the target, he just gets a gigantic IR spotlight to look at.
