Osprey AR15 drop ins are ready to go. After substantial testing we determined that the 1:8 twist rate provided the best repeatability at 300-800 yards for the mag-length 62-77gr bullets. Therefore, we have 8 twist options for the best performance to our exceptional customers. During testing we checked the usual 7tw and 7.5tw options and while they shot well, the 8tw consistently shot the best with "DMR" type ammunition.
Options available are 16, 18, and 20 inch finished lengths with 0.750" gas boss diameters. All barrels come standard with 1/2-28 muzzle threads. Barrels come with an alignment mark under the gas port for easy assembly.
As usual with all the Osprey pre-fits these are honed and lapped, double normalized (stress relieved) stainless and 100% CNC machined. For accuracy reasons we recommend clamp on style gas blocks, not set screw style. The gas port sizes are setup for optimal performance with unsuppressed systems. If using a suppressor it is recommended that an adjustable gas block or adjustable gas key be installed to aid in tuning the rifle system.
