Pre-fit match barrels are the way of the future and PVA has been a fundamental driver of the market in Prefits since 2014. We have streamlined the ordering process to make it easy, quick and organized.

Our match prefits have been winning matches, setting records and harvesting game for years.  The easier it becomes for shooters to use them the better everyone is.  The Rim-X receiver from Zermatt Arms is the latest generation of highly repeatable, smooth, exceptionally accurate Rem 700 SA patterned 22 actions for trainers.  We are proud to offer our prefit barreling capabilities for these exceptional new actions.

The 16 twist barrels are the award winning, PVA exclusive, hand lapped, double normalized button rifled, 5R barrels that we specify from Mullerworks/Rock Creek.  They are all stainless and exceptionally high quality blanks that we contour in house using a proprietary process.

The 12 twist barrels are a result of several months of rimfire ELR accuracy testing up to 500yd and have been selected for their long range performance.  They are made for us specially by Lothar Walther.  The increased twist rate aids in long range stability and helps with group sizes at distances past 200yd.  There has been no evidence of lower performance at shorter distances but we have seen improvements of 20% or more in group size past 200yd.  For NRL22 and field type matches where shots can exceed 100yd or for ELR-Rimfire matches where shots may range out to 500yd or more we highly recommend the 12twist option.

Please note that the rimfire barrels lengths are +0/-0.75" for the longer barrels (22-24" typically).  Sometimes there is some minor runout in the barrel that is due to the lapping and honing process.  In centerfire barrels the chamber is big enough to remove this each time but with the small size of 22LR and similar cases that chamber runout may not always be removed.  Therefore, part of the chambering process is to check the runout and trim the barrel blank accordingly because bore consistency is so incredibly important to accuracy with rimfire.  We cannot replace blanks/barrels that are slightly shorter than requested length in the case of runout that requires removal.  This is also why all barrels come with back-bored muzzles if they are threaded to alleviate any potential for bore geometry changes during threading.

If a shooter wishes to use an ATS Tuner (highly recommended!) and a suppressor on the RimX prefits we need to know ahead of time in order to accomodate the threading properly.  For this reason we will assume that if you order a barrel with muzzle threads and a tuner that the two will be used together.  If this is not the case then we need to know at the time of order. We offer 2 chamber options, a standard Bentz body with a modified throat and the very tight "Eachus" chamber as developed by Mr. Eachus.  The Eachus reamer is a very tight body as well as a shorter throat.  The Bentz chamber that we use has a shorter throat to make sure that good engagement on the lead nose of the bullet is achieved with each round fired.  This is highly important for accuracy at long range.  Customers wishing to have their chamber throated for a specific ammunition need to send some of that ammunition in for throating.  The fee for custom throating is $35.
