Product Description
The Patriot Valley Arms Barrel Nut System is designed for the DIY barrel change enthusiast. This barrel nut allows for a Tikka T3 owner to install a new barrel on their receiver in a matter of minutes with a modicum of tools. There is no need to send the receiver off to a custom gunbuilder for months waiting installation in many cases. The replacement barrel nut and pre-machined match rifle barrel blanks from Patriot Valley Arms provide a direct pathway for DIY shooters to work on their own rifles. Caliber changes, multi-caliber platforms for varmints, targets and big game are all available with this approach. Our barrel nut is designed to be used with straight shank barrels that we produce.
We strive for the utmost in quality in our product lines and this barrel nut system is no different.
The design is laid out specifically to reduce the cost of ownership, allowing users to use an adjustable wrench to install or remove the barrel nut.
Update 01/27/2021: We have revised and strengthened the barrel nut as well as added the option for SS to the lineup. The new nut has a "hood" on it that covers the tenon threads left on the barrel and streamlines the fit on the receiver. The outside of the barrel nut still fits in the Tikka T3x chassis handguard mount as well.
Recommended installation torque is 45-50 ftlb

Ruger barrel nut
Great product fit and finish are excellent.

overall good quality, a higher harness HRC would be better as it is easy to round off the edges of the flats.
Will buy more for other rifles, thank you!

Barrel Nut & Wrench
I have used the nut/wrench on as 243 barrel I rethreaded from a Remington 700 barrel: worked great. I then cut off, turned and threaded a 300RUM barrel (was a Savage 110 barrel), chambered it to 308 Winchester and have it on the Ruger American now: your barrel nut & wrench work just fine. I use barrel nuts on Savage 110 standard shank barrels and on Remington 700 barrels threaded for that purpose so I can easily change barrels and set headspace without the measuring and final turning of a barrel to get the headspace right. I do worry about the strength of the nut-wrench interface at 30 ftlb torque. I would like the option of having a thin-walled "box end wrench with a short stub for the torque wrench to fit. I have to use a bean torque wrench as my set/click torque wrench from Craftsman has a head that is large keeps the wrench from fitting properly on the nut. For those who change barrels, the barrel nut approach is perfect.

Arrived Exactly As Described
It's a well made part but I ended up just making one of my own that had some curvature to it to flow with the tapered barrel I was using. I'll now use this component to check for correct thread fit for my upcoming Tikka re-barreling projects. Nothing wrong with these PVA barrel nuts. I just l rather have a barrel nut with an outside geometry that flows smoothly with the overall rifle profile. If what you're looking for is utility and reliability, these PVA barrel nuts can't be beat; unless you make your own.

Works good
Barrel nut is well machined and makes barrel changes on a Tikka T3 just as easy as changing Savage barrels.
