Product Description
This is custom machined brass specifically for loading reduced capacity 308 Winchester. The brass is precision machined and expected to have approximately 32 grains of total water capacity. Using a heavy 308 caliber bullet with a long boat tail the expected capacity is about 20 grains of water. This is approximately the equivalent of the 300 BLK. This allows use of magnum pistol powders and common stick powders to run subsonic ammunition from a 308 with properly full cases. Since Trailboss(tm) gun powder has been obviated this allows alternate powder useage.
This brass is run in batches and individually machined on a Swiss lathe for optimal consistency and performance. If we are currently out please call and we will put you on a backorder list. Unfortunately with the cost of brass bar stock and machine time being what it is this brass is expensive to manufacture. Comparing it to cup/swage process rifle brass for cost isn't viable however these cases have shown in testing to sustain over 50 loading cycles when annealed properly and not overpressured.
- The brass is delivered with freshly annealed necks
- Users are encouraged to flame anneal necks every 5 loading cycles for maximum longevity. (Induction annealers tend to struggle with the brass, flame annealing with MAP gas has demonstrated easy success).
- Max load pressure is 32ksi
- Typical loading with Varget and 175 SMK is 18 grains of powder with a CCI BR2 and 2.790 COAL resulting in appx 1020-1050fps

Reduced Capacity .308 Brass
Pricey little boogers, but very well made. The reduced capacity made it super easy to find a subsonic load that had great accuracy and consistent speeds. Another out of the park hit brought to you by PVA.
