The "Shockwave" is the latest addition to Patriot Valley Arms' popular muzzle brake line-up. It brings a welcome addition to the line of brakes known for excellent recoil reduction, easy installation, and excellent manufacturing quality. The Shockwave ports follow on the patent-pending "Blast Shadow" design we use in the Jetblast series brakes. These brakes are optimized for precision rifles and approved for use up to 338 Lapua Mag Improved to reduce recoil, muzzle rise, aid in precision and shootability, ease of installation and do it all without directing muzzle blast back onto the shooter because the rearward angle is optimized to "shadow" the shooter. The Shockwave brake has shown recoil reduction in excess of 60% during testing of magnum calibers.
The Shockwave uses the same locking collar approach that is found on our other brakes and includes part interchangeability with the legacy products like the "Rocket Scientist".
The Shockwave uses a threaded collar in order to index the muzzle brake without additional machining work required on each barrel. It is also not 1-time use like other machine-timed brakes but rather can be used barrel after barrel after barrel, saving shooters significant money on each subsequent barrel that they purchase.
Users have found excellent performance with simply putting the brakes on by hand without tools however if the shooter wishes the brake uses (2) 1-1/16" wrenches to snug into place and does not need any thread locking agents to maintain position firmly locked to the end of the barrel for thousands of rounds of use. Most shooters elect to simply install it by hand for quick and easy removal when using a suppressor. All Shockwave brakes are made from high strength CReS steel to sustain use on heavy magnum calibers.
The Shockwave comes in several of the most popular size muzzle threads on the US and European Markets
- 5/8-24 with 6.5mm aperture (Standard)
- 5/8-24 with 30cal aperture (Standard)
- 3/4-24 with 33cal aperture (Coming Soon)
The Shockwave brake is 1-1/8" OD x 3.4" long and accepts up to 0.8" of muzzle thread engagement length.

These brakes work exactly as advertised. I have two of them now, easy to install, worth the money.
Bought this brake for Sendero 7mm Rem mag. It's a night and day difference shooting it now. I highly recommend the Shockwave for a magnum caliber brake. Easy to install and really cuts down recoil. My 7 mag feels like my 25-06 now.
I've been shooting percision riffle competition's for 4 years and have used alot of brakes, this brake is my favorite. The machine quality is by far the best I've seen. I've been looking for a brake that not only keeps my muzzle down but keep the blast from beating me up, the Shockwave does exactly that. I'll be using this brake on my comp rifle from here on out.
Excellent recoil reduction for my 300 PRC while not hitting me with any concussion.Very well machined and packed well for shipment. Five stars.
The brake functions as well as it looks. Made recoil management a non issue for my 28 Nosler. You do not get smacked in the head with a huge concussive blast using this brake. The brake was packed well and shipping charge was very reasonable. Thanks PVA!
Excellent brake. Big improvement from the Mad Scientist for staying on target when shooting off barricades or less stable positions. Much easier to spot hits/misses to make corrects. Makes a 6.5 Creedmoor shoot like a 6xc with a Little Bastard. Just the ticket for those looking to avoid changing calibers and giving their current rifle new life. Blast will clear the bench off in the next lane but not uncomfortable to the shooter. Excellent brake!
Excellent in keeping the blast away from shooter so you don't deal with concusion hitting you. Recoil does ok job still jumps around 13lb gun 100g + powder 285-300g bullets. Finish & locking collar very nice. Also Magnetospeed works with fine with brake
Before installing this brake I could only handle shooting 165-168 grain bullets out of my 300 WSM. Now, I am shooting 180 gr. bullets and the recoil seems less than that of my .260 rem. Also, as the other reviewer stated: No muzzle blast at all.
